Disaster Planning and Preparedness
The Grace Lutheran Church Disaster Response Plan addresses five areas of disaster response: church, community, state, national, and international. The function of this plan is to provide flexibility for our church to define specific needs and requirements in responding to disasters.
The name of the group that is responsible for carrying out the details of the plan, “Disaster Response Team” (DRT), is thus named because the word “Team” denotes cohesive and dynamic action by a group of people in response to foreseen and unforeseen events. It is a social ministry tending to the needs of disaster victims in crisis situations.
DRT has performed a comprehensive risk assessment and has defined a range of disasters that Grace Lutheran Church can adequately and willingly respond to, when they happen. In consideration of the scope of activity that must be completed to create a well-prepared Disaster Response Team, the information on this Web site represents a master guide that documents how Grace Lutheran Church will respond to each of the five areas of disaster response. The Disaster Response Plan document is the main source that outlines how the entire plan is created and executed.
