Personal Disaster Planning and Preparedness

There is a lot of information that can be found on disaster preparedness. Much of it is repetitive and can appear overwhelming. Web links are provided that will help you make your own plan. Everyone’s circumstances are not all the same, so your disaster plan should be designed to meet your specific needs.

By having your own disaster preparedness plan, you are helping your community to ensure that there is a higher probability that you will be able to take care of yourself and your family in the event of a disaster. This will also accomplish two other things:

1) Your community may not have to devote time and resources to assist you and your family immediately after a disaster, allowing services to be provided to others with greater need.
2) You may be in a better circumstance to be able to assist others in your immediate vicinity.
